Life has become too hard for the people who call Maine home, keep our communities strong, and want to build a future here. I hear it everywhere I go. Young families are struggling to save for a first home. Older Mainers have to choose between the heating bill and a prescription. Workers are being priced out of the communities where their jobs are. Employers squeezed by rising costs. And taxes keep rising while trust in government keeps falling.
As Governor, my commitment is to you, your family and the future of our state. I will be relentlessly focused on delivering results - from housing, taxes, energy, health care, and child care to the basic job of making government work for you.. I am laying out exactly what I will do as Governor to cut costs, lower your bills, and grow economic opportunity.
I will work to restore trust in government by tackling corruption and making the state work better, faster, and smarter for Mainers - and more responsive to your voice and your needs.
TAKING ON OUR HOUSING CRISIS
Maine was built by people who work hard, play by the rules, and deserve the chance to live in the communities they love. But today, too many working families, young people, and seniors are being priced out of their own future while a broken system keeps rewarding delay, dysfunction, and inaction.

Too many Mainers are priced out of buying a home. Without the ability to afford a home, young Mainers are looking elsewhere. As Governor, I will create a state-backed down payment guarantee so that qualified first-time buyers can purchase a home with far less cash up front so more young people and more families can put down roots in the towns they love.

With the cost of the average Maine home in the $400,000s, too many Mainers can’t afford their monthly payments. I hear it time and time again – the cost is just too high for a family budget. As Governor, I will launch a Direct Mortgage Support program that helps families cover part of their monthly mortgage payment in exchange for a fair, capped share of future appreciation when they sell the home - giving your family more breathing room each month.

We need 80,000 homes in Maine now, just to meet demand. And too many of our homes are rundown and need repair. This is a supply crisis that needs real solutions and answers. As Governor, I will deploy a targeted housing bond to restart Maine’s factory-built housing industry, expand the housing workforce, and repair our existing homes so more families can afford to stay and build a future.

Projects are being delayed, and government dysfunction is making families wait too long to get into their homes. It is time to end the dysfunction because we are tired of waiting and cannot afford more delay. As Governor, I will launch a statewide audit to identify where lawful housing projects get stuck and how we can fix delays through better coordination between state and local permitting processes.
DELIVERING A FAIRER TAX SYSTEM WITH REAL ACCOUNTABILITY ON SPENDING
Mainers are not just frustrated by taxes. We trust the government less and are told to pay more. My plan is to lower the pressure on families, especially with property taxes, and make government prove it is worth what it costs.

Before government asks you and your family for more of your hard-earned money, it should prove it is spending wisely. As Governor, I will reform the state budget process to bring more discipline, transparency, and value to how Maine spends your tax dollars. I will also create the Office of Inspector General, reporting directly to me, to investigate any allegations of corruption so your voice is not drowned out by insiders and backroom politics.

Too many Mainers are looking across our state lines for cheaper taxes. You should not be taxed out of your home. As Governor, I will expand property tax relief for Maine homeowners through stronger income-sensitive protections and an expanded homestead exemption

When Augusta pushes costs downhill, your local property tax bill goes up. As Governor, I will fully fund revenue sharing and strengthen the state-local partnership so Augusta stops pushing costs onto towns and property taxpayers.

If taxpayers are subsidizing something, you deserve to know what you're getting back. As Governor, I will regularly review so you can see what is working and what is not. Every program will need to earn its renewal by delivering real benefits to the people paying for it.
LOWERING ENERGY COSTS FOR ALL MAINERS
We are paying too much for energy, and the consequences reach into every part of daily life. When electric bills climb, families feel it at the kitchen table, small businesses feel it in every payroll decision, and our whole economy gets weaker while billions of dollars every year go to enrich out of state corporate entities. This is not just an energy problem – it is an affordability crisis and a failure of leadership that demands urgent action for you and your family.

Mainers are paying too much for delivery costs, and the profits companies are receiving off the backs of Mainers needs to change. As Governor, I will review and lower the authorized return on equity for investor-owned utilities so you’re not overpaying

Too many businesses are being priced out of Maine because of the high cost of energy. As Governor, I will pursue negotiated industrial rate contracts tied to job creation and investment so Maine employers can stay competitive without shifting costs onto families and small businesses.

Too many Maine homes are leaky and not efficient. During our winters we feel it the most. The best way to save energy costs is to not use as much in the first place. As Governor, I will scale weatherization and energy-efficiency investments statewide so we can cut waste and lower monthly bills and make your home more comfortable.

Political leaders have negotiated bad deals with our neighboring states, and we are leaving too much on the table. It’s time to take control of our energy future. As Governor, I will create a Maine Generation Authority to own and develop renewable generation and storage assets, keep more energy dollars in Maine, and return the value to ratepayers so we can build an energy system that works for Maine people, not outside interests.
TREATING CHILD CARE AS ESSENTIAL
Maine families need child care to work for them. But today, too many parents cannot find affordable, reliable care. Providers are under pressure, and early childhood educators are not being paid or supported like the essential workforce they are. When our child care system breaks down, parents cannot work, businesses cannot hire, and children lose out on the strong start they deserve. We need child care that works better, costs less, and gives families real options in the communities they call home.

Families and providers should not have to navigate a maze of disconnected programs and agencies just to get the help they need. As Governor, I will unify Maine’s birth-to-five system under a single leadership with one integrated budget and one clear structure so families can get support faster, providers can spend less time on paperwork, and government can be held accountable for real results that you can see

Child care cannot become more affordable or more available if the people providing it cannot afford to stay in the profession. Early childhood educators are the workforce behind the workforce, but too many are underpaid and over burdened. As Governor, I will support permanent wage supplements, strengthen career pathways and scholarships, and treat early childhood educators like the professionals they are so Maine can recruit, retain, and grow the workforce families depend on.

Too many working families are falling through the cracks because help is too limited, too rigid, or too difficult to navigate. As Governor, I will fully fund the Child Care Affordability Program, make support more accessible for all providers, and simplify the process so families can find high-quality care that fits their needs, their work schedules, and their communities. Your family should be able to find care that works in real life.

Child care is economic infrastructure, and Maine’s economy is paying the price when working parents cannot find dependable care. As Governor, I will expand employer-supported child care through public-private partnerships and refundable tax credits so more businesses can help create new child care options, expand capacity, and make care more affordable.
